the Experience
Working with alexis
From the first email to the final gallery, my goal is to make this process simple, stress‑free, and actually fun.
Here’s how it flows:
1. Say hello
Fill out my inquiry form or send me an email so I can add you to my project list. I’ll get back to you within 48 hours with availability, pricing, and a few starter questions to get to know your vision.
2. Lock it in
I’ll send over a booking link so we can pick your date and photography session type, then we'll lock in with your deposit, contract, and a quick questionnaire! This is to make sure we have all your location ideas, must‑have shots, and any inspiration you’ve saved.
3. Prep together
The week before, I’ll send you a photo-prep-guide and confirm all the details: time, place, and weather backup plan so you can relax knowing everything’s set.
4. Photo session day
We’ll start with a few deep breaths and a quick stretch (yes, really). I’ll guide you when you need it, cheer you on, and leave space for those in‑between moments that feel the most like you.
5. Afterward
Within 1 week, you’ll receive your polished, final gallery: ready to download, share, and print. <3
FAQ

How do I book with you?

Fill out my inquiry form or email me at alexis@lexandlightco.com! You’ll hear back from me within 48 hours with next steps.

Do you travel for Photography?

Yes! I am happy to travel anywhere within a 30-mile radius of Lakeland, Florida (area code 33803). For driving outside of my Lakeland bubble, I include a gas mileage stipend round trip for travels added to the final total. At this time, I do not travel out of the state of Florida for photography... but shoot me an email let's chat. ;)

Do you photograph weddings?

At this time, I don’t photograph full weddings. I do love collaborating as a second shooter or photographing intimate elopements, so if that’s your vibe, let’s talk.

Can I have the RAW images?

Kindly, no. I used to offer RAW files when I was starting out, but I’ve learned that my final edited images are the truest reflection of my work and brand. You’re investing in my editing style as much as my photography, and I want your gallery to feel cohesive and polished.

How does payment work?

Through my website's booking system, you can choose to pay in full or submit a deposit to secure your date (with the remaining balance due the day of our photo session). I also accept cash, Zelle, and Venmo. I’ll confirm the payment schedule with you when we book.

What’s your rain check policy?

Florida weather can be unpredictable. If the forecast looks gloomy, I’ll reach out at least 24 hours in advance to reschedule for a better day, because your experience and final images matter more than rushing to get them done.

Do you offer engagement sessions?

Yes... and I would be HONORED. I’ve photographed many engagements and even a proposal here and there ;)
A quick heads‑up: most wedding photographers include an engagement session in their wedding package, so I recommend booking your wedding photographer first. If you still love my style or want an additional engagement session in a special location or tied to a meaningful memory, I’d be thrilled to work with you.

How far in advance should I book?

Spring is my busiest season with graduates!
For Spring grads, I recommend booking 2–3 months ahead of your ideal date (spring fills up fast!).
For Fall graduates and most other sessions, 4–6 weeks is usually plenty of time ~ though earlier is always better if you have a specific date or location in mind.
For non‑graduate inquiries (maternity, newborn, couples, lifestyle, etc.), availability varies throughout the year. Reaching out as soon as you know you’re interested is the best way to secure your preferred timeframe.

How long until I get my photos?

I pride myself on a fairly quick turnaround time and will have your final gallery ready typically one week from our photo session date. I’ll always keep you updated if I expect it to be longer (closer to 2 weeks).

What should I wear?

I’ll send you a prep guide with outfit tips, color suggestions, and ideas for accessories that photograph beautifully. The most important thing: wear something you feel confident and comfortable in.

Can I bring a friend, partner, or pet?

Absolutely! Whether it’s a loved one, a best friend, or your furry sidekick, they’re always welcome to hop in for a few photos or cheer you on. If you’re bringing one or two friends, we can easily weave in a few shared moments while still keeping the focus on you and your must‑have shots. Once we start venturing into three or more friends, my professional rule of thumb is to bump up one tier from whatever package you originally had in mind. More subjects in front of the camera naturally means more posing, more creativity, more movement between locations, and more time to make sure everyone feels included without rushing your moment. My goal is always the same: plenty of time for fun, spontaneity, and those in‑between moments you’ll love just as much as the posed ones ~ not a drill‑list of rushed photos.
If your friend or partner is also hoping for their own set of photos or a more structured duo/group session, we can chat through duo/group session pricing so everyone feels celebrated.

What happens if I’m running late?

I offer a 15‑minute grace period at the start of your session. After 20 minutes with no arrival, the session will be considered a no‑show and will be cancelled without a refund. This helps me stay on schedule for all my photo friends.
